Outside my window is deep snow and temperatures well below freezing. It’s been a desert of snow and cold for almost the entirety of young 2026.
I visited the desert on the outskirts of Palm Springs, California in December 2025.
I walked in the cool morning air and felt the heat build toward noon. I walked the Rodeo Drive of the Desert, Paseo, and sat at a cafe.
I knew when I returned to the American Siberia what I would find, and I returned anyways.
Metaphors surround us. Dichotomy defines us.
Endure. Persevere. The night comes and we know dawn will come at the appointed hour. In the darkness have faith. Plot a path back to the sun. Walk east, it will rise sooner for you. Take shelter if you must. Never lose hope.
“…we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen, eternal.”
Paul, when writing to the Corinthians for the second time understood that you have to have faith that winter will end, that the sun will rise, that the Son of Man will return.
