I feel an odd sense of resignation as I get older. Mortality.
I’m in the sweet spot of life: Cancer wouldn’t be uncommon. Heart disease, not uncommon. Anything seems possible really.
A secular rapture is taking place, with random people, close, disconnected or not even known to us, disappearing, while others live. Rich doesn’t exempt you, fit doesn’t exempt you, nothing avoids the lottery of the unlucky.
Have I lived a good life? Am I ready if called? None of us know the time or the place, the day, the week the hour or the year.
I feel mortality. I think that’s a good thing. I realize I can’t just live for today anymore, nor can I live planning for tomorrows into a distant future.
my soul needs to be clean. My heart needs to be pure. My affairs, as in order as possible, and with that I just need to live, explore, experience, live, laugh and love and what comes, comes.
I can’t stop the randomness of life. I have to embrace the roller coaster of uncertainty and know that if my faith is right, Death is not the end.
Satori! A sudden awakening. I feel free by the thought, not scared, not sullen.
Make me a channel of your peace…
